 | 1036.Kansas, Colorado and 1st UtahOur route took us across the southern part of Kansas. We visited with friends west of Coffeyville who have a great little "garden railroad" setup with all the bells and whistles. Then on over to visit a niece and her family in Pueblo,Colorado. From there we headed through some of our old favorite stomping grounds in the mountains near Gunnison, then on through Montrose and Ridgway, entering Utah east of Moab. In the Moab area we spent time in both the north and south Canyonlands NP and Arches NP, including time for a raft trip down the Colorada river. Heading north from there up into Wyoming. | |

 | 1037.Arizona and New MexicoWe left our 2nd visit to Utah and entered Arizona Oct. 18th spending the next few days at Page. We camped at Glenn Caynon on gorgeous Lake Powell. We really enjoyed our time there. We got to go through the Lower Antelope slot caynon which was fantastic. On down to Tuba City and a visit to the Grand Caynon south rim. Left Arizona and spent the next two nights visiting cousins outside of Gallop, NM. Had a wonderful visit with them, they were great hosts and Grace is a yummy cook:) After that we stopped to visit friends into OK. for a couple days which was really nice and on home to start planning our next adventure. | |

 | 1038.California, Nevada, and 2nd UtahWe hated to leave Oregon but all good things must come to an end so still on the coast we headed on accross the border into California. Only went down as far as Eureka and then headed ESE to Redding and Lake Shasta from there on for a stop at Lassen Volcanic Park and on to Lake Tahoe. We did stop in the famous Truckee, Ca. for lunch. After a few days in that area on across "the lonely road" to Ely Nv. and on back into Utah. On this visit to Utah we checked out Bryce, Cedar Breaks, and Zion National Parks. All were different and all were beautiful. | |

 | 1039.Washington and OregonAter leaving Yellowstone we crossed Idaho and north up through Oregon to Snohomish, Washington to visit a nephew and his family for a couple days. A nice visit there and a great meal of elk. Got to see some of my great neices artwork, which was a real treat. After leaving there stopped at Mt. St. Helens on our way back south to the Columbia River Gorge on the Oregon border. The mountain was pretty obscured that day by drizzle but was worth seeing. We spent about three days at the gorge visiting the sites and checking out all the waterfalls in the area. Also got to see Mt. Hood and ate plenty of the delicious fresh fruit grown locally. From there we spent a couple days in the Prineville, Or. area practicing our rock hounding interests. From there we headed on out to the coast near Newport. The next two weeks we spent working our way south down the coast. | |
