| 1516.July 2004With the exception of the trip to the swamp in Sebring, this has not been a very exciting month for shots. But I shoot anyway, even if I have shot 'em all before. Why? Because I can't help myself and I have a real love affair for the spiders that grow as large as my hand.
A Florida Blessing Bless this house, oh Lord, we cry. Please keep it cool in mid-July. Bless the walls where termites dine, while ants and roaches march in time. Bless our yard where spiders pass fire ant castles in the grass. Bless the garage, a home to please carpenter beetles, ticks and fleas. Bless the love bugs, two by two, the gnats and mosquitoes that feed on you. Millions of creatures that fly or crawl, in Florida, Lord, you've put them all!! But this is home, and here we'll stay, So thank you Lord, for insect spray! | |

| 1517.Cypress SwampDrove about 90 minutes east to Sebring, FL to Highland Hammock State Park. What a magnificent taste of old-world Florida! Hiked about 4 hours on 6 different trails. Saw wildlife I have never seen in the wild before, including a wild boar that jumped up off all four feet in fright when he saw us.
I saw more then I was capable of shooting and am eagerly looking forward to an opportunity to go back. Any area photographers that would be interested, please email me.
My friend Kevin was my hiking partner for this trip and although not a photographer was still very patient and helpful.
Come take a walk and see this lovely swamp through my eyes; you won't be disappointed.

| 1520.Siouxon Creek Falls HikeWe took a day hike here and snapped photos to our heart's content. It looks very much like the Olympic Rain Forest with the undergrowth, moss hanging on everything and the ferns. We hiked about 7 miles. The weather was perfect. There were just a few other hikers and a few bikers, all very nice. | |
