BONAWE IRON FURANCE was established in the 1700's to manufacture iron into products. It was one of the most successful furnaces located in Scotland.
We stopped to see this iorn furance only after we had heard, by another couple at our hotel, how interesting this site was. We did enjoy our visit. However, we still found the Abbeys and Castles of Scotland to be our favorite places to visit.
This was a GREAT castle with the BEST GARDEN OF THEM ALL! This is worth a stop. It is easy to get to from Edinburgh.... train to North Berwick (30 minutes) then bus (10 minutes) from right there to "front door" of the castle.
Joni and I and Chris and Kate travelled north to Mae Sot, on the Burmese border, to visit Anna and Orlando DeGuzman, and to visit a school for displaced Burmese children.
