2/5 MARINES ADOPTION CEREMONY
3034.2/5 MARINES ADOPTION CEREMONY
Rancho Santa Margarita welcomed the 2/5 Marines (2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) at a reception and formal adoption ceremony January 10, 2007, becoming the latest community in Orange County to adopt a Marine unit from Camp Peneleton.

The citizens of Rancho Santa Margarita will support the Marines & Sailors of 2/5, and their families, while home based at Camp Pendleton and while the unit is deployed in operations around the world.

This album includes images of the reception beginning with the preparation phase, arrival  of first guests, informal introductions and visiting, and the formal program concluding with the cake cutting by the Mayor of Rancho Santa Margarita and Commanding Officer of 2/5.

The formal part of the program began with the Invocation by the Battalion Chaplain,  marching on of the colors, the National Anthem, and comments by Mayor Tony Beall and the Commanding Officer of 2/5, Lt. Colonel Craig Kozeniesky, USMC.  Music was provided by a section of the U.S. Marine Corps Band from The Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.

3040.Introduction: A Little About Me
Born and raised in southern RI, I moved south to the gulf coast of Florida 10 years ago and haven't seen a snowflake since except on TWC.  When I was a wee lass, my parents handed me a Kodak Brownie camera, patted me on the bottom and sent me out to play.   I never stopped.

I took a Photography course in college to satisfy an art requirement. Had to borrow a friend's ancient 35mm camera.  Received an A for the class but it was for effort certainly not technique.   It was then I became seriously addicted.

With the advent of the digital age, I have become nothing short of obsessed...as my relatives, friends and co-worker's will attest to. I know I drive them crazy. I no longer leave home without my camera.

I have always seen life through a lens, whether I had a camera in my hands or not.  Photography truly is meant to capture the essence of life and the soul's of people and critters alike.  That is the goal I strive for.

My life is an open book through my photography and I hope you enjoy viewing it.  I certainly enjoy capturing it.

Many of my images are available.  Please visit my gallery site at www.dottymotta.com

Rowland Campaign
3044.Rowland Campaign
I shot these while I had some excellent access to the Governor during his second re-election campaign.

He is now in the news for major corruption and other scandals. I am very angry at him. He is a liar and a cheat.

I like my photos though...

Voodudes End 20 Year Run
3045.Voodudes End 20 Year Run

Sunday Sunday Sunday belongs to Jim, Joe and Koko. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. For two decades, the best little band in the OC ruled the Balboa Peninsula on Sunday afternoons. The Voodudes might be the best band in the world. When they resurface (soon!), you'll have to come see for yourself. Perhaps the greatest untold story in the history of music in the OC is the fabulous story of the magnificent Voodudes. I first walked into the Studio Cafe back in 1977. It's been MY place (not Michael's - ever!) for nearly 30 years. I have watched the most amazing music in that little room: Jazz with Chuck Owens, Electric Blues with the incomparable John Heussenstamm, and the best rock and roll on the planet with the Voodudes. Now? I'll be looking for a new music joint to find my spot in, order my drink, and uncap the lens on my Canon 20D. Thanks Jim, Joe and Koko (and all of your fabulously talented guest stars including Mr. Jones, Chris Brightwell and Matthew Johnson). What a run. I do so look forward to the next venue, the new home for Sunday Sunday Sunday! Cheers lads!
The Voodudes:
Jim Garrison, Joe Romanoski and
Koko Powell.
¡Viva los Voodudes!
