Hirsau, the Hunting Castle (2007-05)| A Renaissance hunting castle (more a ducal residence cum hacienda) was built in 1592 in front of the secularized Abbey. Duke Ludwig's architect was Beer, the predecessor of Schickhardt. Destroyed again exacty 100 years later. Some of the burnt down buildings (in particular the two granaries and the mill) were rebuilt in the 17th century and house today administrative offices. |

INVERARY CASTLE (1 1/2 hour drive NW of Glasgow)We enjoyed our visit to Inveraray Castle. Again we were not able to photograph inside. However, on the castle's website you can find inside photos of many of the castle's rooms. We found the castle's Armoury Hall to be the most interesting and the BEST of any castle we visited.
If you do visite the castle make sure to stop in to sse the Combined Operations Museum.
It is located on the grounds of the castle. We did not have time to visit it
but I have heard it is very much worth a visit.

2008 EuropeTrip (April 4 - 13, 2008)Vienna, Venice, Paris are on our itinerary. 4-7-08 Salsburg internet cafe, wonderful trip so far. lots of pics, wierd keeboard, sorry! Long flight, everyone healthy and happy. Vienna was great, fantastic concert Sunday night, lots of great sights and interesting food...Indonesian Saturday, and pancake ham and cheese restaurant Sunday. In the Alps now, snowy and cold, "Sound of Music" country. Everyone is doing great, no one even misses home a bit! Will try to be more descriptive with pics later, enjoy them and thanx for looking. |
