3084. MY ART AND PASSIONS

WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE
Jan Lockhart

LIFE IS VERY VERY GOOD!!
Be sure to select my different pages from the pull-down menus located at the top of each page.
Don't miss anything!

My art career was primarily as a subtractive sculptor of wildlife, mostly birds. I worked in the field for over 20 years, teaching about 18 years. I was the resident artist of the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum in Maryland. I exhibited at the most prestigious exhibits of the carving arts nationally, and regularly judged at the National Decoy Carving Competition held annually in New York. I developed asthma, which made continued teaching impossible. I later was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, and chose to retire from my carving and sculpting career. I have actively investigated many creative art forms, including painting with acrylics and watercolors, fabric art, cooking, writing, and making jewelry. I frequently do commissioned work for local galleries and individuals. My husband Tom is a retired US Air Force Colonel who flew fighter aircraft. He taught George W. Bush to fly jets during the President's service in the Texas Air National Guard and thus began a 35-year friendship with the President. Presently, Tom flies for a local flying service, mainly transporting doctors and medical personnel to the hospital facilities located on the nearby Indian Reservations. We live, with our Chow Chows, Tukee, Winona, and Lola, among the beautiful red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. I am also a pilot, but usually prefer to navigate when Tom and I go flying. We have also retired our Chow Chows from the show ring, but still enjoy traveling with them in our 38' motor coach. Lest you feel a twinge of pity for my physical ailments, let me tell you that my asthma has greatly improved since I have eliminated breathing the dust from the wood and

Australia Day
3086. Australia Day

Australia Day is celebrated on 26 January each year. To all Australians, no matter where in the world you happen to be, may this bring you fond memories of home. This collection of collages is Australia as seen through the lens of my camera. Happy Australia Day!

CancerSurvivors
3088. CancerSurvivors  (2010-02-11)
The Cancer Survivors Park by Richard and Annette Block is by the Spanish Landing near the San Diego International Airport.

I have driven by there often, but thought that these were improvements to Spanish Landing an Cabrillo. Today I decided to have a closer look at these 'improvements' and take some photos.

My thoughts went to Steve Nemeth, whom I saw cheerful at a Super Bowl Party, he enjoyed fine wine and avoided to attract attention by looking good!

I have not been one to ask questions and feel that I might have a chance to brighten some days with my e-mails. This photo album is for you Steve, along with all the others who fight cancer to STAY a survivor!
