 | 1129.3/1 MARINES CAR WASH - 19 SEPTEMBER 2009On Saturday, 19 September 2009, the Marines of 3/1 (3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) with the assistance of the Huntington Beach adoption committee (3/1 Marines Foundation) returned to conduct another successful car wash, raising funds to make the battalion's 2009 Birthday Ball more affordable for young Marines & Sailors.
The Huntington Beach community adopted the battalion in 2005, and since then has supported the battalion in a number of ways, including fund raising events to support Marines/Sailors of the unit, and their families, especially while the battalion is deployed.
The citizens of Huntington Beach and the surrounding area turned out as before to generously support the fund raiser by donating money for car washes, purchases of refreshments, T shirts, etc., from the volunteers manned by local citizens in support of the 3/1 Foundation.
This was truly a community event with outstanding support coming from: Bella Terra, Simple Green, Huntington Beach Public Works, Beef Palace, Huntington Beach Municipal Employees Association, HB Digital Arts, California Pizza Kitchen, Islands Restaurant, Daphne's Greek Cafe, Peet's Coffee & Tea, Huntington Surf & Sport (HSS), King's Fish House, Halloween Express and Upper Deck, all of whom donated very generously to this event

 | 1140.3/1 GOLF TOURNAMENT - 2010Monday, 10 May 2010, the Huntington Beach 3/1 Foundation hosted a golf tournament at the U.S. Navy Golf Club in Cypress, CA, a change of venue from Camp Pendleton where the previous tournaments were held.
The 2010 tournament is the 5th annual event for the foundation's support of the Marines & Sailors of 3/1 (3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division).
The day was bright and cool, providing great weather for the 3/1 tournament. Everyone enjoyed the golf, which was followed by dinner, awards and auction in a private dining room of the new clubhouse.
