460.Hirsau, the Hunting CastleA Renaissance hunting castle (more a ducal residence cum hacienda) was built in 1592 in front of the secularized Abbey. Duke Ludwig's architect was Beer, the predecessor of Schickhardt. Destroyed again exacty 100 years later. Some of the burnt down buildings (in particular the two granaries and the mill) were rebuilt in the 17th century and house today administrative offices.
