1941 Play Ball | The third, and final, Play Ball series is a huge hobby favorite today. The addition of color results in a most attractive-looking set. The set highlights include the DiMaggio brothers (Vince, Dom, and of course Joe), Ted Williams, plus the first card of Pee Wee Reese. The 1941 set's reduction to 72 cards (from 240 cards in the 1940 issue) help to make possible the completion of this set less of a wallet - busting chore. |

1888 N28 Allen & Ginter | The 1888 Allen & Ginter set, or N28 set, is considered to be the first ever tobacco issue. The cards were packed into Allen & Ginter cigarette packages, so finding quality examples is a real chore. The colorful artwork on the front makes this issue, perhaps, the most visually appealing issue of the era. The reverse of each card features a checklist for the entire set. Six of the ten baseball players in the set are Hall of Famers with Cap Anson remaining the key as the marquee player of his generation. |
