First Flight Centennial Celebration (December 17, 2003)KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. – The spirit of the Wright brothers was alive on the 100th anniversary of their first flight. Around 12:30 p.m. today Dr. Kevin Kochersberger took controls of the world’s most accurate 1903 Wright Flyer reproduction for a reenactment of Orville Wright’s first flight. However, the engine RPM was lower than expected due to the wet weather. The wind speed also dropped as the Flyer maneuvered down the 200-foot rail. The hopes of a second attempt at 3:45 p.m. also were dashed by low winds on the final day of the First Flight Centennial Celebration at Wright Brothers National Memorial. One flight traveled just under 100 feet and another traveled 115 feet. |

1/1 MARINES MEMORIAL SERVICE (10 December 2012)Following the return of 1/1 (1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) from their recent deployment to Afghanistan, a Memorial Service was held at Camp Pendleton in honor and memory of Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Clayton R. Beauchamp, Fleet Marine Force, U.S. Navy.
After conclusion of the service, family, Marines & Sailors of Doc Beauchamp's Bravo Co., the balance of the Battalion, and guests paid final respects at the Battle Cross of HM2 Beauchamp. Doc Beauchamp served as a much admired and deeply respected Corpsman with Bravo Co., 1/1.
(The Battle Cross is a symbolic replacement of a cross on the battlefield or at the base camp for a service member who has been killed in action. Made up of the inverted rifle with bayonet attached stuck into the ground, helmet on top, dog tags sometimes hanging from the rifle and the boots of the fallen next to it. Its purpose is to show honor and respect for the fallen at the battle site. The practice dates back to the American Civil War. Today, it is an immediate means of showing respect for the fallen among the still living members of the unit.)

Living in Korea (2008 to 2010)| Adriana and I loved Asia so much during her year performing as Brigitta Von Trapp in The Sound of Music Asia Tour that we decided to return. And what a wonderful way to return. Her mother was blessed to get a teaching job as an Algebra teacher at Korea International School, an international private school just outside Seoul, Korea. School just began Aug. 12th so many more photos to come. In a few weeks we will be traveling to Jeju Island so check back for more photos later. In the meantime, check out our previous album "The Sound of Music in Korea" to see some highlights of the country. |

After being encouraged to wear white clothing, and/or creative costumes, the runners are treated to "color stations" along the route where they are assaulted with brightly colored cornstarch powder. At the end of the run, the party starts- More cornstarch and plenty of music.

Jason Aldean Night Train Tour (10/27/2012)| The Night Train Tour.. Jason Aldean, accompanied by Rachel Farley & Luke Bryan.. what a fantastic night. The music was great, in fact, electric... thigh thumping, foot tapping, screaming the words electric. Rachel was wonderful, Luke was Luke.. and it was his birthday, so Jason presented him some cake, beef-cake :), and then a non-music highlight. Jason and his wife presented the Susan G. Koman race for the cure foundation a check for $509,125, the entire proceeds from that nights receipts. Jason has donated a concert to breast cancer every year for 7 years.. it don't get better! |
