1ST LEB MARINES ADOPTION CEREMONY (3 May 2014)The City of Lake Forest, California hosted a ceremony to formalize their adoption of Marines of the 1st Law Enforcement Battalion on 3 May 2014. See copies of program cover and Sequence of Events which are posted in the album.
During the ceremony, Lake Forest Mayor Dwight Robinson introduced and welcomed the Battalion's Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Jan R. Durham, USMC, and Jim Rosenberg, President of the USMC Support Committee, officially welcomed the Marines of 1st LEB as adopted sons and daughters of Lake Forest.
The ceremony was concluded with a "Pass In Review" of the Battalion and the 1st Marine Division Band.

1/1 SERGEANT MAJOR RELIEF & APPOINTMENT (3 April 2014)In a Relief & Appointment ceremony at Camp Pendleton, CA, on 3 April 2014, Sergeant Major Christopher R. Reed, USMC, of 1/1 (1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) was relieved by Sergeant Major Chuong T. Nguyen, USMC.
These images begin just prior to the Pre-Parade concert by 1st Marine Division Band, with the Marines & Sailors of 1/1 forming off the parade deck awaiting Adjutant's Call.
The images of the ceremony are presented in the order of the Sequence of Events as shown in Frame # 12.
The passing of the NCO sword symbolizes the relief and appointment when the outgoing Sergeant Major surrenders the sword to the Battalion Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Lance Jackola, USMC, who in turn delivers the sword to the new Sergeant Major.

Victoria Celestine @ Sams Burger Joint BIO
Victoria Celestine picked up the guitar at age 13 with Bobby Flores, at his Bulverde Academy of Music, and began writing songs the following summer (2010). Gordon Raphael, (producer - Regina Spektor, the Strokes) caught her singing during the next Christmas holidays , and invited her to record her first 7 songs acoustically. The following April, she recorded her debut album at 14, "From the Outside", with Jacob Sciba, at Pedernales Studios, in Austin, TX. She received "Best Female Teen Artist of the Year", from Indie Music Channel at the House of Blues in Hollywood, and then received 2nd place (teen category) from the International Songwriting Competition for the song "In The World", as well as Honorable Mention for the song "From the Outside" (performance category). April 2012, Victoria co-wrote and recorded 3 singles with Jeff Blue and Mike Gonsolin in Hollywood ("The Story of Us", "Mother", and "It Only Gets Better"). Her first music video (of the song "In the World"), has been distributed by Pulse Records to 8000 retailers, (including Sam's Club). The same song caught the attention of Video Star, who featured it on their popular app for iphone/ipad in Jan.2013 which propped her #42 on USA iTunes Music chart. She received again the 2nd place (teen category) prize from the ISC 2012 with the song Drift Away. Having turned 17, Victoria completed a new full length album which is expected to be released this year; besides performing regularly in local venues, she has been hired as well in several projects as a studio vocalist. |
