TUN TAVERN GOLF TOURNAMENT - 4TH ANNUAL (May 4, 2009)
Monday, May 4, 2009, the Huntington Beach 3/1 Foundation hosted a golf tournament at the Camp Pendleton Memorial Golf Club, dedicated to the Marines who served in World War II.
The tournament is a fund raising event for the foundation's support of the Marines & Sailors of 3/1 (3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division).
The day was slightly breezy, but otherwise great weather for the 4th annual Tun Tavern tournament. Everyone enjoyed the golf, which was followed by dinner, awards and auction under the newly constructed patio dining cover at the golf club.
The enlargements come up "original" by default, and at the bottom of the enlargement, the viewer may choose smaller sizes (medium & large) for best screen fit. To save/print, always choose the original size for best resolution.
My son, Dirk, assisted me this year while I am recovering from a back injury. We often team up to volunteer for 3/1 activities, and are pleased to provide these images for saving/printing at no cost to individuals or the foundation.
If you have personal or business needs for professional photography, Dirk is available for projects such as home family photos, parties, events, and automobile photography. You can check out his website: http://dirkbag.com and he can be contacted at: dirkbagdotcom@gmail.com for more information.

SERGEANTS MAJOR DABNEY & HENRY, USMC (11 August 2010)On 11 August 2010, during a Relief & Appointment Ceremony at Camp Horno on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base, Sergeant Major Troy W. Dabney, USMC, was relieved by Sergeant Major Jonathan S. Henry, USMC as Sergeant Major of 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division. Sergeant Major Dabney will assume the post of Sergeant Major of the 1st Tank Battalion at the Marine Base located in 29 Palms, California.
While Marines of the famed battalion took their places on the parade ground and guests were finding their seats, the 1st Marine Division Band entertained with a concert.
The photographs follow the sequence of the ceremony, which is described in frame #13 as the ceremony begins.
The passing of the sword symbolizes the official assumption of the duties by Sergent Major Henry. The sword is delivered to the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Craig Wonson, by Sergent Major Dabney, and in turn is passed to Sergeant Major Henry.
After the ceremony, beginning with image #63, guests congratulate the Sergeants Major, then depart for a reception at Puller's Post.

City Outback Adventure (14 July 2010)| The Outback came to the City when Syd “The Stockman” Davey brought his variety show to the heart of Perth to give the urban children an understanding of life in the outback. This variety show uses real horses, sheep, and sheepdogs for demonstrations, together with songs, poetry and colloquial expressions as Syd teaches about the outback and our bush heritage. An entertaining show for all the family. |

Marash, Turkey-1919 Dr. S.E. Kerr (July 1, 2010)Dr. Stanley E. Kerr - b:1894-d:1976 This information gives the length of a man's life, but it does not tell what a man did with his life. What Dr. Kerr did with his life was to serve his fellow human beings and for that he should be remembered. For his monumental account of the tragic events in Marash in 1919, "The Lions of Marash," he deserves the eternal love and remembrance of Marashtzis everywhere. As a member of the Near East Relief, Dr. Kerr (along with his soon to be wife, Elsa Reckman) served in Marash from 1919-1920 and from 1921-1922. From Dr. Kerr's Obituary |
