4 Ways to Share

ImageEvent makes it easy to share albums with friends and family. Your friends and family do not need an ImageEvent account to access the photos. There are 4 ways to share your photo albums.

Send Photo Album by Email

Email your photo album sends an email to your friends and family. There are many benefits. With sending an invitation to visit your website, you aren't sure if your friends will see the photo album - but with emailing you know your friends will see the album as there is no link to click to visit. Each email is an html email and very small in size - only about 10k. It is quick to download as thumbnails are loaded from the ImageEvent Web Site when the email is opened.

It does work with all html and text based email programs. It works with online providers such as Yahoo Mail, Hotmail and AOL as well as email programs as Outlook Express, Netscape and Eudora.

Make sure you have a webpage that you can edit or create a new one. It's best to use an editor that will you to preview. To add the photo album into your webpage do the following:
  1. Click on button on Home page "Add to Website".
  2. Highlight by selecting with mouse (or press Control-A) from the box.
  3. Copy (Control-c) and Paste (Control-v) the HTML from the box to the file.
Due to some limitations on message boards to prevent spam-- javascript may not be allowed. It will work on all pages that you own or have access to.

What is the URL and sharing it

The URL to your album provides a convenient way for you to share with your friends and family without sending an invitation through ImageEvent. The URL is created at time of creating the album and once made it cannot be changed. The only way to change the URL is to create a new album, then move all your images to the new album. Once done, you can delete this album with the incorrect URL.

Having a direct URL to your album has the convenience of:
  • Make flyers on your home printer to tell friends and family the URL before or when you are at your event.
  • Easily include URL in your own invitation, without using ImageEvent's
  • Put the URL in your personal webpages.
  • Share URL word of mouth.

Adding guest password to album URL

If you have a guest password to your album, you can include that in the URL. Your guests will not be required to enter a guest password to get to your album.
  • Append the following to the URL: "?pa=<GUESTPASSWORD>"
For example if your username is "smithfamily", your album URL is "familyreunion" and guest password to album is "family", your URL will be: http://imageevent.com/smithfamily/familyreunion?pa=family

It is also possible to include the guest password to your Home page the same way.

Sharing using the same guest passwords

If more than one album has a guest password, it may be a good idea to use the same exact guest password value. Guests will only have to enter the guest password once to go to one album-- when viewing other albums it is not needed to enter the same guest password value again.
