| The 1888 Allen & Ginter set, or N28 set, is considered to be the first ever tobacco issue. The cards were packed into Allen & Ginter cigarette packages, so finding quality examples is a real chore. The colorful artwork on the front makes this issue, perhaps, the most visually appealing issue of the era. The reverse of each card features a checklist for the entire set. Six of the ten baseball players in the set are Hall of Famers with Cap Anson remaining the key as the marquee player of his generation. |
