I built a basic self-supporting frame that slides over rub-rail
Enlarge photo 22enlarge 43KB, 425x640
22
I built steps from no-skid metal. Steps are hinged @ top & flip up. Hinge pin is easily removable allowing easier removal of steps
Enlarge photo 23enlarge 43KB, 640x425
23
Steps & frame dismantle into a small easy-handling pkg. I built 2 sets, one for each side
Enlarge photo 24enlarge 37KB, 640x425
24
I've always had 2 separate 15 gal direct injection chem tanks on back of Hagie. Only need one chem these days
Enlarge photo 25enlarge 39KB, 640x425

We use HyPro SideDress mole knives (33SD). Wear is excellent, except for tube protectors (removed for photo)
Enlarge photo 96enlarge 51KB, 426x640
96
I remove worn protector & replace w/HyPro provided strips. Old strips usually break off @ weld
Enlarge photo 97enlarge 56KB, 426x640
97
This strip is fitted & ready for weld
Enlarge photo 98enlarge 47KB, 426x640
98
These are a couple of my finished knives. Wire weld is plain mild steel. I paint weld so it doesn't rust before use
Enlarge photo 99enlarge 53KB, 480x640
99
This is a "factory" strip. It's done a few acres, but you can see crack line @ weld. Still, they usually wear from the rear forward
Enlarge photo 100enlarge 48KB, 426x640

A knife that I've rebuilt. I have no idea how long the point & main shank will last. Many on this bar are 2 yrs old
Enlarge photo 101enlarge 69KB, 480x640
101
This yr we added a hyraulic "3rd point" to NH3 applicator. Really makes the bar a handier tool
Enlarge photo 102enlarge 100KB, 640x480
102
Looks like a planter screw-up doesn't it? Actually our test for 30" vs 15" rows. 30" are seeded @ 150,000 ppa. 15" are 165,000 ppa. Both commmon rates locally.

I"ll let you know this fall

Taken near farmstead on 6/12. Larry's grandson looks @ stranded M & auger. We've had a fair amount of rain in past 2 days.
Enlarge photo 106enlarge 24KB, 720x298

Water has been problem here for quite a while. Split photo shows same results in 40 yrs span. Photo on rt was taken from approximately same position-though fence is gone & pasture replaced w/corn. Note neighbor's farmstead in background
Enlarge photo 107enlarge 43KB, 640x480
107
Carson wants to get to the M, but will have to wait for another day. That white "stick" over his lt shoulder is locator for catch basin. Of course-drain does nothing while ditch is overflowing.

Water is pouring out of field running into cement culvert to ditch.
Enlarge photo 109enlarge 39KB, 640x479

Added an additional air-supply tank (500 gal) for shop. Acquired a good condition LP tank & replumbed.

Son Kurt painted tank & fittings.

Enlarge photo 110enlarge 15KB, 640x479
110
First had to get smell out of tank w/ammonia & Aqua Velva. Added ball valve & gauge. Used 1/2" copper to plumb
Enlarge photo 111enlarge 63KB, 640x479
111
Water drain @ bottom of tank-also it will bleed off tank fairly fast
Enlarge photo 112enlarge 21KB, 640x479
112
Went thru shop wall w/ 1/2" copper
Enlarge photo 113enlarge 37KB, 479x640

This is one of our inside air lines. Again-1/2" copper. The elbow/ball valve combo goes out to new buffer supply tank. Air is supplied to this shop from a different bldg via underground 1" plastic water pipe
Enlarge photo 114enlarge 54KB, 640x480
114
Bean combining in 2004 gave very good yield results-best we've had in some time
Enlarge photo 115enlarge 40KB, 640x480

Conditions were dry & good for most of bean harvest

Corn yields have been very pleasing for our area. Corn has stood well most of the harvest season.
Enlarge photo 123enlarge 71KB, 640x480
123
Grain cart is a must for most in this area. Not really possible to make full rounds, even with grain extensions on combine
