Iceland: Reykjavik to the Glaciers (Go Ahead Tour 8/2/14 - 8/7/14)My long-awaited trip to Iceland was filled with many questions: what could I possibly see in just a few days? geysers, glaciers, waterfalls, and countryside; would Pauline really be there? yes!;would the weather be freezing cold, wet, and miserable? no!; could I enjoy the fish, lamb, and expensive wine? absolutely!; would I recognize Nancy and Gary from a previous tour? indeed! |

Bulgaria and Romania (October 1 - 13, 2013)When GoAhead announced this "new" trip, I signed up. My usual travel partners could not be enticed to visit this part of the world. Why Bulgaria and Romania? Well, I had never been there, so why not? Maybe I'll meet Dracula. That of course did not happen, but I think all 23 travelers would agree that it was a great itinerary anyway. |

Spain 2012 (September 20 - October 3)It was another GoAheadTours trip for me, this time with my cousin Janet. We visited several sites that I had seen previously --- Madrid, Seville, and Barcelona --- plus several sites that were new to me --- Cordoba, Gibraltar, Granada, and Tarragona. In addition, there was a one-day excursion to Morocco. It was a delightful itinerary, filled with sangria and tapas. |

Scandinavia (May 2011)Scandinavia: Capitals to the Fjords, a GoAhead Tour. Traveling by plane, train, bus, and ferry, we saw the highlights of Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, and Helsinki. We ate Danish pastries, herring, salmon, and reindeer; we sampled the local beers, vodka at the Ice Bar, and AquaVit. We used 4 different currencies: DKK, NOK, SEK, and the Euro in Finland. Puzzled by the languages, I was grateful that everyone speaks English fluently. |

St. Petersburg & The Baltics (GoAhead Tour May 7 - 18, 2008)Eighteen travelers met in St. Petersburg, the city of Peter the Great. Of course we visited The Hermitage, home of art treasures from around the world, and Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and the Summer and Winter Palaces. Then it was on to Tallinn, Estonia, where we walked through the ancient stone gates along cobblestone streets into Town Hall Square. Our final stop was Riga, Latvia, a showcase of Art Nouveau period architecture. Both Tallinn and Riga are UNESCO World Heritage sites. In the Baltic countries Peter the Great has realized his dream. |
