Eighteen travelers met in St. Petersburg, the city of Peter the Great. Of course we visited The Hermitage, home of art treasures from around the world, and Peter and Paul Fortress, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and the Summer and Winter Palaces. Then it was on to Tallinn, Estonia, where we walked through the ancient stone gates along cobblestone streets into Town Hall Square. Our final stop was Riga, Latvia, a showcase of Art Nouveau period architecture. Both Tallinn and Riga are UNESCO World Heritage sites. In the Baltic countries Peter the Great has realized his dream.

My favorites were the monastery with blue walls, the Peterhof fountains and grounds, Catherine's Palace, all the cat pictures, and especially the Cat House! - Lynn, Wed, 16 Jul 2008 3:31PM
