Boxelder Canyon
The Rat Dogs and I took a trip to Converse County Park, which really is just Boxelder Canyon and the land around it.  It is south of Glenrock, Wyoming by about 10 miles.

We went with the intention of exploring and maybe doing a little squirrel hunting, but there were no squirrels to be found - just voles and chipmunks!  We had lots of fun anyway, and got lots of exercise running up and down the hills.

We hope you enjoy these pictures.

I thought this was a beautiful tree growing in a rock outcropping.

No matter how far out you are, you're never far from a reminder of civilization.

Tracker!  I couldn't get many pictures of him since he seemed to be out of camera range most of the time.

A young buck killed probably months ago.  Since he teeth still look good, I imagine it was a mountain lion kill and not natural causes.  We found cat scat not far from here which confirmed my suspicions.

There is a small creek under all those brambles.  You could hear it, and smell the sweet smell of wild spearmint, but you couldn't see it until you stepped in it!

I wonder how many more years that dead tree will cling to the rocks.

I snapped this picture and then called everyone back from the ledge - it is about a 200 foot drop from there!

Next time I want to go to the waterfall and swim in that pool!  I will have to find a more detailed map next time to work my way down there.

The doggies taking a break in the shade - even at just 80 degrees, it was pretty warm because there wasn't much of a breeze.
"Oh how I'd love for it to ..."

Have you hunted the Medicine Bow area and Shirley Basin of Wyoming?
I've seen red fox lots of badger and lots of jackrabbits some years.

Enjoyed your web site.  Ours is out of date!
