The song was also recorded by one of my favorite artists, Maria Muldaur, the same year in on her album "Waitress in a Donut Shop." Monkey's call name comes from a chorus in the song: "Play somethin' sweet now make it funky; And let me lay around and grin like a monkey; Play something I can understand; Play me some Brickyard Blues" |
