Little Stevie Wonder 8-22-07

Little Stevie the Wonder Caique is settling in and seems very content in his forever home with me, Momma Christine. Momma Gloria and Daddy Ron, his breeders at Shady Pines Aviary, call every day to see how he is doing and to share their wealth of knowledge on weaning and fledging chicks.

1 Little Stevie with my grandson Jacob. They spent hours together watching TV and playing and snuggling. Jacob did not even mind Stevie pooping on him!	2 Kiri CAG and Howie the Caique come down to the living room every day. They have a huge play area and a dining table set up. Sad to say, they cannot be out together, so, I had a small King Cage where one could be out while the other was safely contained.	3 August 22, 2007 It was time to set Little Stevie up with a downstairs cage so that he could be with us and not left alone upstairs. The cage labeled NEW is the 'safe house', and the one labeled OLD is Stevie's Studio Apartment.
4 Kiri is eating on the birdee dining table and Howie is dining in the new 'safe house' cage. After a few hours, Kiri will go in and Howie will be out for some Mommy time	5 The inside of Stevie's Studio Apartment	6 Stevie's perch and a Stevie sized Atom. I ended up removing the perch because it was a space hog.
7 The birdees had pancakes and blueberries for dinner. Stevie was not keen on the pancakes. I think they were too 'dry' for him.	8 Still August 23rd. Minutes after I introduced Stevie to his Studio Apartment. He is so adaptive. He found his toys right away and started to play.	9 Stevie starting to Caique wrestle with his Atom
10 More wrestiling fun!	11 My made from scratch veggie pancakes. This batch has sunflower seeds, brocolli, sweet red peppers and collard greens. All organic ingredients.	12 August 23, 2007 Yummy raspberries to top of breakfast pancakes. I think the pancakes were too dry for Stevie, so, I am going to dribble some of this juice over his portion.
13 Stevie's 2nd breakfast. Pancakes dribbled with raspberry juice and diced fresh, peeled mango. Stevie ate only a bit of his weaning pellets and none of his corn from early, early AM breakfast. He is too interested in trying out his wings.	14 Breakfast for K, H & S Stevie flew up to the top of my head, flew off, hovered like a helicopter and then glided to earth onto the rug. He keeps flapping in his cage and takes small flights inside his upstairs cage. I hung a small birdee boing for him. I know he will soon figure out that the boing will allow him to flap his wings and excercise.	15 August 24th Little Stevie Wonder meets my granddaughter Emma. It was instant love
16 What is Stevie saying to Emma?	17 Stevie and Emma had quite a lengthy conversation.	18 Emma was amazed at how intently Stevie listened to her every word
19 August 28 - 93 Days Old Little Stevie in his Studio Apartment. Today is the first day I have offered him food in a cage bowl	20 Yummmy Pasta Primavera	21 Look at how well he is perching and eating. Today was also the first time I have seen him hold a piece of food in his foot!
22 Eating his dinner just like the big boys!	23 Nothing keeps this little baby from climbing around and exploring	24 Looking for his Pasta Primavera.

Hi Christine and Stevie,

I just want to tell you what a wonderful home you have given to this little bird. I have 5 caiques of my own and I know what a handful they can be at times, but the fun and love they give in return cannot be replaced. I love reading about him and your other birds and seeing the progress and photo's. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and give that little guy a big caique kiss and a special treat for me. Thanks for giving him the opportunity to be a wonderful caique baby and taking such good care of him.

Christine! He looks marvelous and so obvious he is enjoying his life with you already! What great food and love how you set his studio up.............I send Stevie love and hugs..........Bless you Christine. I look forward to your updates....
