I was looking for a new sew blanket that the entire family can do together for the Project Linus Program. This one looks GREAT for all of my childrens ages 6-16. I'm SO excited & can't wait to get started!! - Kim Biggs-Womack, Sun, 17 Jan 2010 7:11AM |

If you put hooks on each end of the blanket, you can make it into a hammock for a show cage. Just need to get dimensions of cage to make sure it fits - Jill Steinberg, Thu, 10 Dec 2009 3:41AM |
This might sound silly.......what is an overhand knot? - Tina, Wed, 2 Dec 2009 3:17PM |

1 CatTrouble1 Blanket requires about 2 1/4 yards EACH of 60 inch wide polar fleece in two colors (or one color and one print).
Leaving the fleece out in plain sight of cats is an invitation to disaster.
| 2 CatTrouble2 I left the room and returned to find additional problems and another delay in starting my blanket.
| 3 TrimSelvedge3 Trim "cut" (top and bottom) edges of fleece straight.
Cut off the selvedge (finished edge) from the two sides.
Since my fleece has a regular pattern, I worked that into my overall blanket plans. A more random pattern would be easier for a beginner.
| 4 LayOut2Layers4 Place the two pieces of fleece back-to-back (wrong sides together) on a large flat surface. The floor is probably easiest.
Smooth both pieces of fleece to remove wrinkles and align straight edges.
| 5 TrimEdgesEven5 Trim all edges even.
You can actually cut both pieces at once if you wish.
| 6 ShowCard6 Measure a block on each corner. This piece of fabric will be cut away to allow fringe to work correctly.
The dimensions are not equal because the fleece stretches more in one direction than the other.
These dimensions on the corner will define the length to cut fringe.
4 1/2 inches in the "stretchy" direction and 5 1/2 inches in the "non-stretch" direction worked well for my medium weight fleece.
| 7 CutCorner7 Cut the rectangular piece from each corner of the blanket as measured in previous step.
| 8 MeasureFringe8 Fringe will be cut 1 inch wide on this medium weight fleece.
| 9 CutFringeCat9 Cut fringe through both layers of fabric all around all four sides of blanket.
Plan ahead as you approach the corners and adjust fringe width slightly so fringes will "come out even"
| 10 TieKnots10 Tie each pair of fringes (one on back fabric, one on front fabric) together with an overhand knot.
As you form the knot, slide it up to the "base" of the fringe, even with the blanket edge.
