I've just winched a log down off the hill to the right. Dad positions the tractor to drag the log down the driveway. Just below this section the driveway is so steep and icy I had to use the winch to pull the truck up the drive.
The peavy on the right is used to move the logs into position.
First log is ready to go! We are hauling the logs down to the bottom of the drive to be cut up by a man with a portable sawmill so we can use them in various projects.
That's my dad, Don Horvath.
Here's a shot of Zeus and Athena, sort of.
Here thay are playing while we work. They do work sometimes, pulling children in a sled.
Shot of the truck in position to pull logs up the hill from the left onto the drive.
Dad comes up for another log.
And another.
Snatchblock in foreground will be used to pull the really big logs up the hill.
This large ash log will make nice boards for a stakebed truck for the 1967 WM300. I'm routing the wire rope through the snatchblock...
...and back to the tow hook on the front of the truck.
Here's a few shots of clearing logs for a new road to my parent's house on the farm.
