FEMALE
The sows usually have a smooth swelling over their genital area. Sometimes, it can be bumpy looking, making you think it might be a male! If you gently part the genital opening, on a sow, a "Y" shaped opening should appear.

just thought Snowball should have a companion since he's always been so happy around my housecats. Thanks to your website I know what sex to get, how to be sure. Also confirmed my young male is a female,,,like so many other guests here !

This was very helpful. We had a male pig and my friend rescued a :male" from some terrible owners and brought it to us so our guy would have a friend. We quickly noticed we had a very pregnant female on our hands. We separated them and she had 2 pups I had taken them to the pet store 2 days ago when they were only 5 days old and they said they were both female. I went back last night because there was a male I wanted for our guy, seeing as how he still was very much alone, and that salesman said you couldn't possibly sex a pig until 2mths old! I knew I had to found out quicker than that just in case one of my baby girls was a baby boy and wanted Momma and sister lovin' but thanks to this sight they are all what they were thought to be now we have a separated but still united pig family.

The pet store where I got my piggy from not only guessed the sex wrong, but gave the poor thing to me with a URI. He wasn't sneezing at the pet store, but shortly after checking out this page I had to take him to the vet, where the URI and male sex were confirmed. After multiple bad experiences with pet stores, I gave him the generic name, Sammi, to avoid confusing him in case of a sex mix-up.

Great page and the photos help very much. Much better than just the "y" and "i" method.

My aunt and uncle own the pet store that I got all my guinea pigs from.  I'm starting to think they're crazy! They told me I had two males and two females. They all look the same to me. If I was checking things out right, then they are all females. I'm wanting to put them together, but i'm still a little unsure.
