Growing Wheat Grass
This album features photos and instructions for growing wheat grass. Two methods are shown below: growing the seeds with soil and without soil. Both methods are effective ... just choose the one that works best for you and your guinea pigs. If you use the soil-less version, make sure that the seeds do not become moldy. If they do, toss them out and try the non-soil method again or try growing them in soil. If you still have problems, don't despair. Just go to a farmers' market, grocery store, or pet store to find wheat grass (sometimes sold as cat grass). It will be more expensive than your homegrown variety but your guinea pigs will enjoy it. Feel free to send in any photos of your own wheat grass growing experiences and photos of your pigs enjoying the fruits of your efforts. Have fun!

Florence suggests using a storage container with a clear top for growing soiless wheat grass outdoors. "Soak a BIG piece of newspaper to place at the bottom of the container and keep the lid on the container. It grows faster with sun; I've noticed when its rainy days and cooler temperature it takes forever to grow!"
