Gorgeous, frothy and girly - and of all Padme's costumes I'd like to do, why not tackle probably THE most challenging one first! Inspired by the pending release of the last ever StarWars movie (so says GL); it was high time I made my first ever canon StarWars costume!!!

Beautifull Lake Dress, it goes without saying that a lot of time & effort has gone into your gown, well done. Do you make these gowns for people if so how much do your charge? I am also in need of the hairband to go around my wig as I have very short hair, would you be abe to make me one the same as yours, it is to go in a carnival next year. Well done again on the lovley dress!!

heya i was wondering if you got my request about your lake gown? i guess your quite busy but theres no rush for it! i was wondering how much would you charge in dollars? the only changes i would like would be no split down the train and the underdress to touch the floor and also have a train, i hope this is ok?? thanks for your time!!

hiya, my friend gave me the link for this site, because i really would like to wear a pastel lake gown to my prom ur dress is amazing - would you be able to do one for me exactly the same as yours? how much would u want in $? thankyou for your time! sky - p.s the only change i would like would for the underdress to be longer with a train (hate my feet hehe!)

Will be taking these images as the colour guide for dying my version of the dress..

.. the fall at the back of my dress will be pink and purple with no blue in it...

Many Bridalwear Specialists will warn about using purples for bridesmaids because it is known for throwing blue when captured on film.

The poly crepe was great to work with, the blend through was easy and effective, end result is quite delicate. This matches the depth/colour in most versions I've seen so far.

The silk charmuesse: bit more fiddly to get the right depth of the pink blending to purple and the photo doesnt do justice to the actual result. Shiny side looks softly luxurious and appeals to the bower-bird in me, but I know the dress looks matt in the movie.

Silk chiffon: although looks pale in the photo, it took the yellow a little too well! .. must remember to rinse it a little lighter before dipping the pink and purple.

Photo more accurately shows the dried results of all three materials. The poly on the left, silk charmuesse in the middle (which I'm going with for the basic dress) and the silk georgette/chiffon on the right.

A styling tip from an old 80's magazine gave an idea for how I might fashion my own locks into something akin to Padme's without the gaudiness of full wig/headpiece.

I'll extend the curls lower on my head/neck & fix a multi-pronged hairband piece over it to still give the illusion of the shell effect.

Lovely antique brooch from the 40's belonging to my Grannie, that I thought would suit to secure the chiffon train at the small of my back... but it was a little too big, and I'd hate to sit back on it too hard and bend or break it.

Another brooch, from the early 70's, belonging to my Mum; she then gave it to me to use. I decided on this one because of size, the setting is actually plastic and wont break, and the AB crystals lend themselves beautifully to the dyed colours - not to mention I though it a lucky gesture to carry a token from my Mum with me on this adventure!

Gold paint on the far left won out for colouring the trim for the neckplate. Using the same trim as the edging from my EverAfter shoes.
