A scan of each end of the 63" piece of lace that I recieved today. OBVIOUSLY gold, not silver & most of the 63" is tarnished/even BLACK .. have ideas that may work still

the crinkle over the satin .. ivory is definately OUT. But the Buff or dk Cream?
.. the Buff is closer to the original & matches the crinkle
.. the dk Cream would make blending pale golds/laces easier

the shear metallic over the Buff & DkCream .. this is for overlay on the bodice back & sides of front bodice

the flower is painted on the right side of the lace, the leaves are painted on the underside .. the colour is too gold :(

My poor skating leotard from which I rescued a treasure of Czech crystals! A good 20yrs old, the lycra had perished so the dress & gauntlets were unwearable.

This used to be the only kind of crystal trim available in store in Nth Qld back then. Individual metal backings, and then assembled on cotton mesh - not that awful black or clear plastic that you see nowadays. AND it was a heckova LOT cheaper then too...

A comparison of dulled, tarnished stones, to soaking in jewellery cleaning solution, to the finished result after a gentle brush & rinsed in warm water then pressed dry. Cleaning made a BIG difference to their clarity & sparkle!

All laid out to air dry thoroughly for a day or so. There was snippets of cotton thread stuck between the stones and their backings don't forget.

I scored these really unusual little cogs - think they were meant for more Hindi style jewellery, but I hoped they'd be a wonderful fit for part of the design on the shoes

More seeds. Gold glass ones(reasonable price), and a kind of AB metallic colour, with flat faceted edges (shocker price). Going to use these as 'fillers' amoungst the structured pattern on the shoe tops

All of these are for decorating the heels. Picked up the square pieces (pkt 10) from Joanne's in the US, back in September.

Day 1 on the shoes. First needed to unpick and cut away the crotcheted covering from the shoe cover.

Both freed of the crotcheted covering, revealing plain black mesh (almost wire-like) base.

The shoes were in GREAT shape, but were pretty stinky. While I swabbed the inside & soles with antiseptic wipes, it didnt help so I wasnt keen about my own feet contacting the original materials. So I decided to cover the insides as well. Started with toe inserts.
