I'll also be making the earrings and necklace seen worn with the Gold Dress from 'Curse of the Black Pearl'
.. only that I found such a reasonable match for pattern & colour, in this quality lightweight upholstery @ 50% off, was I driven to recreate the Gold Dress. At 2.2mtrs wide, meant only needing about 2.5mtrs. It should make a decent version to try selling on eBay.
Hadnt been able to find any suitable lace for the sleeve inserts & buying online would take too long to arrive, then I found this jacket for $40.
It's embroidered nylon netting, great width, decent pattern match too - I scored nearly 3mtrs from the jacket hem & neckline, without removing ITS sleeve inserts. There will be plenty leftover to eBay off as well!
Close up of the real movie-worn necklace
The basement bargain I unearthed at a Salvation Army store! 9ct too!!
The findings and fixings for both necklace and earrings
So I test trialled a few baubles on the necklace to see if the effect was authentic, AND to test if the baubles would fall off too easily once the glue dried fast.
A few days later the threading pearls arrived so I wired these on first. In hindsight I'd do them last next time..
The completed necklace. About 6hrs work overall..
I finished off with Gold Gilding the chain - the 9ct gold had worn thin in places and the Gilding lent a more 'antique' look to the new gold colour...
Shot from the back .. little fob ball & chain finishes the piece.
The movie-worn earrings. (see Ref pic #2) In the big promo posters, Kiera wasnt actually wearing the earrings
