11 Junior Jan. 4, 2018 4 months old and about 6 lbs We're in trouble now! Temps here in Lake City were in the 20's that morning. Junior and his doggie friends went out the front door as usual. The wooden ramp was frozen and the ground was frozen too. He took a header off of the slippery ramp and fell onto the frozen ground below and broke both front legs.
12 Junior Jan. 5, 2018 My local vet took one look at Junior's radiographs and sent us to an orthopedic veterinary specialist in Gainesville. Junior's surgery was done at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists on Jan. 5th. He came home on Jan. 6th.
13 As horrible as this experience was, we quickly found out that we sure did have a lot going right for us with Junior's injuries. His three broken bones were not life-threatening, nor did either limb require amputation. He had an excellent prognosis with surgical intervention and, being a young puppy, his age was in his favor also. And, we were most fortunate that we had enough wiggle room left on our credit card to pay for the bill.
14 left front leg side view before surgery The humerus was fractured above the elbow joint.
