But wait, there's more!
Linked like a sausage right behind Ruby is her sister sharing the same placenta; Ruby is a TWIN!

This is the twin...
The twin sister - named "Mary-June" - was half Ruby's weight when born.  Sonja kept her at arms length and tried to keep her from nursing.

Ruby went for the arm pit.....
Ruby could often be found in her momma's armpit - a choice WARM spot.

Ill fated twin..
Is in the middle, 3rd from the right.  She lived barely 36 hours.  Some pups are not meant for this earth, so Mary-June went back to being an Angel...

Stress test!
From 8-16 days pups are taken to an area that is cooler to sense a temperature change.  This drop in temperature affects the immune system, kicking it into gear or 'jump starting' it.  Pups that recieve this type of socialization develop superior immune systems! (Read more about it in the Monks of New Skete "Art of raising a puppy.)

Starting to toddle..
Pups start to get up on leg at about 14 days and 11 day old Ruby is practicing up and building muscle for the event!

More crawling...
The pups drag, slither and crawl as they work towards getting their legs under them!
