DIRLETON CASTLE

This was a GREAT castle with the BEST GARDEN OF THEM ALL! This is worth a stop. It is easy to get to from Edinburgh.... train to North Berwick (30 minutes) then bus (10 minutes) from right there to "front door" of the castle.

The castle had an unbelievable garden that had many BEAUTIFUL plants!

This type of thistle is called an artichoke thistle. It is only one of many different types of thistles one can find in Scotland. This variety of thistle grows larger than other thistles.
