Many of the church items are kept in glass cases because of erosion from the heat and salt air.

The rooster here was a the entrance to the enbarkadaro (a dock). In order to get to Stone Island you have to take a boat which takes about 7 minutes.

Someone forgot to bring in the chairs the night before. It's a good thing they didn't get washed away.
Enlarge photo 11 Boats on Stone IslandDSCF3351
This one boat has special meaning because it has the same name as my parents white poodle they once had named Toby. Going to Stone Island was his favorite pass time because he got to run free on the beach.

Enlarge photo 21 Former school locationDSCF3338
The fence in the picture is what remains of the school grounds that is now the new park. About eight years ago a 25 lb iguana fell out of a tree along this fence and just about hit me.
Enlarge photo 22 Park across from MaleconDSCF3337
This is a park that people use for working out. I walked through this park every day during my morning walk.

Parts of the Malecon shoreline look like this. These areas are often off limits to people for swimming.
Enlarge photo 27 Walking along the MaleconDSCF3330
Walking along the Malecon first thing in the morning is a great way to start the day. The ocean is to the right as you go down the road.
Enlarge photo 28 JacobDSCF3329
Jacob cleans the streets every morning along one section of the road along the Malecon. He has been doing this job for over twenty years.

Enlarge photo 37 Where we get water DSCF3344
This is a water depot were we take our large water jugs to get refilled. We drop off the the bottles and pay for new ones. After going back home, arrangements are made with a taxi driver to have the new bottles dropped off and brought up to the apartment.
