HAIL & FAREWELL, 1/1 MARINES - 2009

After returning to the USA in late July from their most recent deployment, Officers of 1/1 (1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) held their Hail & Farewell party to welcome aboard new arrivals to the battalion, and to say farewell to those leaving for other assignments, retiring, or returning to civilian life.

The Commanding Officer is also leaving the battalion for a new assignment, and will hand over the battalion's colors to his successor at a Change of Command ceremony on 16 October 2009.

Unfortunately, a number of images from the Hail & Farewell ceremony are not included due to poor quality. It was necessary at that time to use flash, and the low mirror ceilings caused reflections resulting in ghosting and distortions. Many of the images were eliminated and several others shown here are somewhat marginal.
