1/1 MARINES CAR WASH - 30 APRIL 2011
1/1 (1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division) visited Newport Beach again for another successful car wash, raising funds which will be used to offset the cost of attendance for the lower enlisted ranks at the Marine Corps Ball in November 2011, after the battalion returns from deployment.
1/1 was formally Adopted by Newport Beach in 2003, and once again, the citizens of Newport Beach and surrounding communities turned out to support the Marines & Sailors of the battalion.
Weather was great, helping to bring out lots of visitors , including young people, children, seniors, veterans from WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, even the Chief of Police from Beverly Hills, who is a former Brigadier General, U. S. Army.
Future car washes are scheduled for Saturday 4 June and Saturday 30 July at SimonMed Imaging, 3300 West Coast Highway, Newport Beach, between the BMW dealership and the Newport Boulevard overpass. Come by to visit with Marines of 1/1.
