Enlarge photo 1 This is Tootsie, an affectionate and gentle rat terrier mix.
Enlarge photo 2 Tootsie is a happy, smart, curious girl who loves to be near her person and is very liberal with kisses.
Enlarge photo 3 Close by as foster mom works.  She's a very velcro girl who will become your new shadow.
Enlarge photo 4 Tootsie has gotten used to leash walks, and she likes going out to explore every day.  She spends some time in the yard but she really likes getting in the car and heading to the trails in a nearby park.
Enlarge MOV 5 As soon as she sees the car keys, she's right there at the door, tail wagging, ready to jump in the car.  She launches into the front seat as soon as the car door is opened, but she's not allowed to ride in the front seat.  For everyone's safety, the garage door is closed and we don't get on the road until she is securely settled in the back seat.
Enlarge photo 6 Tootsie has a laid back personality but she's a girl with just the right amount of energy to be your wingman on any adventure you're up for. She may love our car rides almost as much as the walks, and she's very well-behaved at home and in public, so she can go almost anywhere.
Enlarge MOV 7 The walks are an integral part of her day and she loves getting out there.  Her recall is so good that we walk off leash where it's allowed and in parks where the perimeter is secured.  She never goes too far and she comes right back when called, but she has a blast checking things out.
Enlarge photo 8 She doesn't seem to have been taught any basic commands but she pays attention and does what you ask.  Here, she was told to wait because foster bro was lagging behind.  She stopped on a dime.
Enlarge photo 9 He finally caught up, so they are off again!  We are in an enclosed area where there is no danger from traffic.
Enlarge photo 10 Coming back when called.
Enlarge MOV 11 Another video of Tootsie coming right back on command.  The park is secure, and we go there often so she can have these romps.
Enlarge photo 12 That was fun!
Enlarge photo 13 Back home, she'll snuggle in a pillow or a fleece as long as it's close to foster mom.
Enlarge photo 14 She likes to sit close to her person, and won't budge until you do.
Enlarge photo 15 Tootsie will bark if anyone approaches the house or when she gets excited,  but she is otherwise really quiet and completely well-behaved. Yes, getting up on the couch counts as well-behaved!
Enlarge photo 16 She gets along wonderfully with her foster brother, and she's done well with other dogs once introduced.  While she is clearly a "people" dog, she would be happy to have a canine sibling in her new home.
Enlarge photo 17 Tootsie is comfortable in her crate but she's so well-behaved that she has the run of the house. She is fine alone and unsupervised if the adults are out running errands, but she's very excited when we get back. Tootsie is good by herself for an hour or so but she wants a home where her person is around most of the time.
Enlarge photo 18 This little girl is a delight!  She's been patiently waiting for her person to take her home. Is it you?
