| I parked the wife's Accord yesterday evening a little after six PM. I went to get something out of it around eleven thirty PM and this is what I found. It was attached to the Accord in approx six locations and to the Oak tree limb above in just as many. The amazing thing is that the attachment points on the limb were a good 30 above the car top. What an amazing and industrious creature this spider is. This web was spun/built in less than 6 hours by a creature smaller than a United States quarter coin. I am not particularly a fan of spiders but I am very aware of their need and important place in the ecosystem(I did own a few Tarantulas as pets years back, before I knew better). I find this web both a piece of practical work and a thing of beauty. Feel free to leave your comments. Also does anyone know what species of spider this is, we are located just outside the city of Tampa FL. USA it that helps in the identification. |
