If you believe in animal WELFARE and not animal RIGHTS, please advocate for legislation for everyone who receives any type of compensation (adoption fee, sale) to be held to a HIGHER STANDARD and mandated to follow the same defined AWA standards of care designed for licensed USDA BREEDERS in order to prevent intentional or unintentional companion animal abuse. Animal NEGLECT stems from the LACK of enforced regulations and guidelines for proper animal welfare for both breeders and rescues. Most states, exclude "rescues" from the "humane" care required of LICENSED breeders. Sadly, the animals are the ones who suffer needlessly as most improper care is from IGNORANCE and not malicious intent.
Instead of addressing animal welfare for ALL pet purposed companion animals, ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS display “puppy mill” images (from as far back as 1972) of UNREGULATED facilities in other countries or states. These images are used to emotionally black-mail society to believe these are current LICENSED “commercial” kennel conditions. This has led to many states promoting and practicing DISCRIMINATION of licensed BREEDERS.
The images within this book show TRUE current conditions within licensed "commercial" breeder facilities that we should strive to have ALL pet representatives up hold. USDA, WI, MO and OH licensed kennel dogs are housed in conditions that either meet or exceed the CORRECT images within this literature. Any UNREGULATED (breeder or rescue) may have conditions meeting the "INCORRECT" photos within this literature.
The root cause of animal NEGLECT is NOT breeders, rescues, or individuals, but the LACK of regulated guidelines and ENFORCEMENT of them for EVERYBODY involved in the pet industry. Please research facts before believing or repeating mistruths.
