When you think of Scotland the animal that comes to mind first might be the Highland cow or bull. However, actually seeing Highland cattle is NOT THAT EASY unless you travel to the Highlands and really keep your eyes opened for one. We never saw any highland cattle grazing but finally found "Hamish" grazing alone at one of the woolen mills we visited. We were told that Highland cattle are not used as much for beef. Instead "Aberdeen" cattle is the animal of choice for beef now in Scotland. We found Hamish to be an incrediable bull. He was very gentle and really liked people. Dennis especially liked Hamish. He watched him for a long time while Candy was shopping at the woollen mill. Below you will find photos of our visit with Hamish.
**UPDATE... IN 2011 Hamish became a father and now has a son. CONGRATS HAMISH. |
