A relatively long-tailed species with a total length of 34–38 cm (13–15 in). Adults are mainly green with varying amounts of red to the face and thighs(腿部), a relatively conspicius(顯著的) bare white eye-ring, and a heavy, pale bone-coloured bill(鳥嘴). Juveniles(幼鳥) show little or no red to the plumage(全身羽毛).
Unlike most of its relatives (Scarlet-fronted(紅額錐尾鸚鵡), Red-masked(紅頭錐尾鸚鵡), White-eyed(白眼錐尾鸚鵡), Cuban(古巴錐尾鸚鵡), and Hispaniolan Parakeet(伊島錐尾鸚鵡)), adults at most show one or two red feathers at the bend of the wing.
