Senior Final Collection Fashion Show
1. Senior Final Collection Fashion Show  (12.17.04)
After 20 months of classes, homework and long hours, my Fashion Design degree culminated with a Senior Collection comprised of five outfits. My collection was developed from a group of costume redesigns I had done for Battlestar Galactica and Anne McCaffrey's Dragons of Pern series for Portfolio class, however, me and my Collection Development teacher turned it into wearable couture fashion. All of the outfits have a futuristic feel offset by organic fabrics to make it wearable and less costumey. The fabrics were purchased in NYC's garment district. I budgeted $1000 and spent that on fabrics, notions, trims, horn toggles and dye. Cotton and silk brocade, silk tassar (a type of raw silk), fine green linen and ultrasuede were layered over fine rayon matte jersey dyed to a creamy ivory, for comfort, functionality and elegance. All of the pieces mix and match and the obi belts are reversible. I am very proud of my collection and was extremely happy with how it turned out. I received an A for my Final Collection work and graduated with Honors. I want to thank my models: Dee, Melissa, Lisa, Jillian and Tara for doing a fabulous job and really strutting their stuff. I want to thank my friend Michelle for doing the models' makeup and providing some of her handmade stained glass jewelry to accessorize my collection. A really huge thanks goes out to my good friend Matt who took the photos and put together CDRoms with all the photos for each person who assisted me in some way. A final thanks to all of you who came out to the show and supported me. I couldn't have done it without any of you. It was a huge success. I'm still receiving compliments on my work and the good job all of you did at the show! All photos are copyright 2004 by Matt Black and may only be reprinted with his permission (Excepting any one who assisted me - your CDRom copies are yours to use however you need). If you'd like to see or purchase any of Michelle's jewelry, please feel free to email me for contact information.

Feel free to sign the guestbook or email me directly! Would love to hear what you think!
