JD 2510H modifications
We have a 23 unit JD 2510H applicator. In it's factory configuration, it has 2 adjustable down pressure controls, one for the left half of the machine, one for the right half. However, since we follow the tractor/planter tracks of a 24r planter, we find the center section needed a little more down pressure in some soil conditions to compensate for the deeper planter wheel tracks. However, doing that also increased pressure on the remaining wing units which often ran in non-tracked soil & created too much down pressure.
So after looking at the cylinder & control valve arrangement for a few minutes, we decided that it would be easy to tie the 2 center cylinders together & separate them from the remainder of the openers. The wing unit openers then all became controlled by the remaining control valves.
The only parts needed/used were 4 hoses approx. 36" long, 2 JIC tees, & 2 JIC caps, & some tye wraps. The machine could probably be restored to factory configuration in 10 minutes if desired. Nothing was removed.

This is the center of the machine. The 2 cylinders you see operate the 5 center section units & were factory divided/controlled separately by 2 different flow valves. Now those 2 cylinders are joined together & separate from the rest of the units & controlled by their own flow valve.
The system could be returned to factory setup in probably 10 minutes or less.
Parts needed are 4 hoses approx. 36" long, 2 JIC tees, & 2 JIC caps & some tye wraps.

The "shiny" hoses  you see were the hoses we added. Nothing was removed or altered. All ends on the JD hoses use JIC fittings. Use hi-quality hydraulic hose.
This is the LH cylinder. Hoses come from flow control, thru the cylinder, & over to the RH cylinder.

The right hand (viewed from behind) cylinder now has caps on 1/2 of the existing factory
"tees". The other 1/2 of the tee has hoses coming from the LH main frame cylinder.

Nothing was changed on the control valves. These are the 2 factory valves, untouched.

I did a label showing which valve is main frame vs wing frames.

The non-black color spacer at the top of the spring is sold by Shoup Mfg. I installed 4 of them on the main frame units, but NOT on the center row.

JD sells lighter springs to fit the 2510H. I believe they are springs from a JD 750 drill. I installed the "light" spring on my center opener since it runs on ground never touched by the planter. We have no markers on the planter.
