We wanted storage area on our JD 512 disc-ripper for emergency parts like shear bolts, extra point, scraper parts, etc. Didn't want to carry them in the tractor cab. Tractor tool box is too small, and too far away. Needed something somewhat waterproof & resistant to dents. A medium size plastic tool box fit the bill. I substituted a bungee latch for the factory key-twist. Key usage would be a nuisance in the field. Box can be removed from it's cradle in about 10 seconds, or less. Cradle can be removed from the hitch in less than 1 minute. No holes were drilled.
