On our way to the Canyon (November 24, 25 2004)| We rented a Dodge Caravan mini-van as we were 7 of us - Ranga, Anu, Anu's mom, Anu's dad, Radhika, Priya and myself. We started evening at around 6 pm and hoped we would reach Bakersfield by 10 pm but instead we were stuck in traffic on 152 and finally we decided to drive the complete distance upto the Canyon. That way we would reach the Canyon by morning. |

Air-tour of Grand Canyon (November 25, 2004)| First stop - Grand Canyon Airlines. An hour long tour in an airplane over the Canyon. This was a memorable attraction as we could never have gotten to see the Grand Canyon completely as much as what we saw from the air above. |

Sunset @ Hopi Point (November 25, 2004)| After the IMAX movie we rushed to Hopi point to watch the sunset. The weather was getting very cold. In this album you can see Ranga actually shivering in the ice cold winds after sunset. Hopi point is the best vista point to witness the sunset over the Canyon. |

West rim - Hermits Road (November 26, 2004)| The next morning after breakfast we set out to go around the West rim. But the wait time was too much and since we had already seen the Hopi point on the west rim we just walked back to our car to go around the East rim which had much more attactive vista points. |

Yavapai Observation Station (November 26, 2004)| First stop on the east rim - Yavapai Observation Station. This is a fantastic viewing station as one can see all the important landmarks on the Canyon like Vishnu Temple, Shiva Temple, Buddhist Temple, Wotan's throne etc., These names have been given based on the way in which these structures are eroded by nature. |

Sunset @ Desert view (November 27, 2004)| Today I used uncle's cooling glasses for shooting sunset pictures. Digital cameras are not very good in resolving the reflexes of the lenses during sunset and sunrise. Hence by using a simple cooling glass (UV protection glasses) I was able to get amazing shot of the sunset. Note the difference from the sunset shots taken @ Hopi Piont. |

Death Valley National Park (November 27, 2004)| By the time we reached it was dark and we were tired and frustated by the death valley drive. Hence we could not check out the Sand dunes. Here are a couple of scans from postcards. This is what we went there for. |
