Meijer Gardens
We were on the other side of Michigan for some business, and made a fun trip out of it too.  I have wanted to visit Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids since I heard about DaVinci's horse being there.  The gardens were gorgeous... indoors and out.  The horse was breathtaking... and HUGE!

Inside the tropical greenhouse
This picture does not do justice to the immensity of these plants.  I was in awe!

Cute bird!
This little guy walked right up to the edge of the path, 'chirped' a few times for us, then walked across the path and disappeared on the other side.

Huge flowering tree
The flowers were thick on this tree.

The twist
Some form of palm tree that had a spiral trunk.  It was neat.

Look at those leaves
John is holding his hand up right next to the leav so you can get an idea of the size.  The plant almost seemed to glow.

Where's Waldo...
Well, OK, where's John?  He IS in the picture.  It gives a better  idea of how big some of the plants are in here.

DaVinci's horse
See the picture of the plaque for information on this giant.  I can't believe he stands on only two feet!

Small model of the big guy
This is a scaled-down model.  You can see the horse up close (you'd never see the top of his head otherwise).

Driftwood horse
I have no clue how this one stays together, but he's neat.

This one was neat
If you look close, you can see arms and legs going every which way... I just couldn't help staring!

One of the waterfalls
There were waterfalls like this one throughout the sculpture park.

Some of the waterfalls drained into ponds
This is at the end of the big pond, I think.  There were a bunch of ornamental fish in the pond.

Freddy and me
I sat down to visit with Fred Meijer for a little bit.  He's a very warm fellow (but then the sun was pretty hot that day).

John contemplates some flowers
In the Victorian Garden.  It was indoors.  These flowers were really neat.

I had to take this picture to show all my friends who have Rat Terriers!

Hey!  Is this one sticking it's tongue out at me?
There sure were some strange looking things!

I played both, so I can picture myself here!

The greenhouse
You can see that some of the plants and trees had to be huge to brush the ceiling in here!
