John and I went to the UP for a mini-vacation, and to pit for Kris at the Loose Moose Enduro in Marquette. Most of the pictures are from the Seney National Wildlife Refuge.

2 This is a really nice rustic campground right on the water (two beaches available for swimming)
3 A spy shot of John stoking the campfire
4 Seney National Wildlife Preserve The day was clearing up... you can see where the sun is lighting the left half of the pic (it was really strange, the picture is accurate)
5 There are trumpeter swans galore!

8 Some sort of water bird flew by and I snapped this shot
9 Not quite sure what this is... I think it is what is flying in the previous picture. Any ideas?
10 There were several ponds to see, and most had swans on them

13 Caught a butterfly flying by as we were driving... it cleared up, the wind died down, and all the ponds were calm.
14 The sign said we might see some loons here
15 There's one now... do you see the ripple? He's swimming underwater... loons can swim FAST!
16 There he popped up to get his picture taken!
17 Big loon, and I think it is a young one with it.
18 "On your mark, get set..." They looked like they were ready to race, but they just stand with their foot up like that. Strange...
