I had to buy a table saw. I first used it in the garage and I'll never do that again; big mistake even though I had the shopvac running.
Really didn't want to, but bought a planer. Discovered I really needed it to make some parts.
I decided to make my own metal brackets, so I needed to get a metal cutting band saw.
A lath for metal parts. Comes in handy at times.
Floor mounted metal bender
Vise.
Using this dehumidifier to keep moisture under control.
My rotary tool set.
Here's the book in which I'm documenting the build.
I'll be using this image to highlight when I came up with an idea or way to solve a problem.
Wood is so expensive that I sometimes will use regular cheap wood first to check my cuts/drilling as well as the fit with other pieces and brackets. I also use practice wood with a router and see the effects of going with the grain and against the grain.
I keep track of all orders. I'll sometimes have several orders at once and with some items on back order, it gets confusing. When a package arrives, I review the packing slip and take inventory. I always know what I received and what is still on order. The builders log book gives a section to record expenses. I log only items that will go on or into the plane. I save all receipts.
