Our monthly outing was a trip to Spider Meadow. It was raining in Lynnwood when we left but the weather was pretty good with only a few showers and a lot of sun breaks, which is the best you can hope for in mid October.

Album revised May 2025. It is interesting to note that in the latest Google Maps satellite view shows that the Spider "Glacier" has almost completely disappeared as shown HERE

The green tent was from Sears and we had several for our outings. They were heavy but you could put 3 or 4 scouts in one.

Note raingear - we had some showers during the day. When we started hiking, Peter S. was having a hard time and was stopping to rest about every two minutes. When I checked his pack, I found that he was carrying the complete set of the Chronicles of Narnia. We sent one of the older boys back to the car with them and he did much better after that.

Greg and I did a day hike up to the foot of the Spider "Glacier", which we had climbed up and over Spider Gap in 1980.

If you look close you can see Greg on the trail. We didn't go up the Spider "Glacier" but went up a way trail to the meadows on the right.
