Guinea Pig Fun | Home > Theme Cages >
Plum Palace by LilyGrace
Our 5 guinea pigs live in a "duplex" located at 574 Dandelion Drive. The "Plum Palace," WalterP and Dara's home, is located on the upper level. Purple is the main color of The Plum Palace: purple, blue-purple, and red-purple. Accent colors include orange, red, and olive-green. The O'Guinea home features an entire wall of large picture-windows. The Plum Palace is decorated with custom-built, custom-quilted-covered "furniture": a futon, two lofts, a fleece hammock, and a covered tunnel.

Information on making a "Cubes and Coroplast" cage may be found at: www.cavycages.com

The O'Guinea's name plate is a photograph of carrots. Photoshop was used to add the text. The frame is attached to the grids with cable-ties.

Acrylic, attached with cable-ties at each corner, creates windows for the double doors.

Door closure made with velcro and a button shaped like a pig. The front coroplast is edged with sliding-bar report cover holders (can be purchased from office supply stores).

Mini-grids were used to increase the cage height in areas where there are futons or lofts. (Mini-grids are available from Target - usually near the office supply section).

The loft supports are made from mini-grids bent into a "U" shape, then cable-tied to the bottom of each loft. Food dishes are hooked onto each loft support.

Both lofts are attached to the sides with three cable-ties.

For easy cage cleaning, the lofts can be lifted up and hooked onto side grids with binder clips.

Double-doors are hinged using cable-ties that connect them in two places.

Large picture windows adorn each side of the Plum Palace, making it easy for residents to look out and see what goes on in the world.
