Blueberry Bungalow by LilyGrace
Our 5 guinea pigs live in a "duplex" located at 574 Dandelion Drive. The "Blueberry Bungalow," where LittleRickie and Pearly Frosting reside, is on the lower level. The Blueberry Bungalow features ceiling lights, a drawbridge, a covered tunnel, 2 futons and a plush hammock.
Information on making a "Cubes and Coroplast" cage may be found at: www.cavycages.com

They use their bridge for access to hay, pellets and water, even though all these are reachable from below. They also like to simply lounge on the bridge.

The base of each side of the bridge is a cut grid lined with a cut-to-size Rubbermaid drain mat. The mat is cable-tied to the base.

Enlarge photo 7
The cylindrical support for the bridge is made from a picnic cup dispenser cut to the right height. The support is cable-tied to one side of the bridge so that when resting on the ground, both sides of the bridge are suported by it.

For easy cage cleaning, both sides of the bridge lift up and are attached to the cage sides with binder clips.

Their name plate is a photograph of endive escarole. Photoshop was used to add the text. The frame is cable-tied to the grid.

The door is held closed by  velcro and a button shaped like a pig.

Hammock with "grid-lid" for safety in case they ever try to jump out.

Top view of grid-lid. Grid-lid lifts open for easy access to clean hammock and change futon covers. Note the one-square row of overlap at the back of the cage prevents grid-lid from falling in cage.

Cable-ties work as hinges.

Nuts, bolts and washers secure castors to the plywood.

A handle in the middle makes it easy to pull out the cage.

One last castor was added to make three on each side. The rear castors (shown closest in this picture) are non-swiveling. The front castors swivel.

Clear tube lights attached to the underside of the table provide the Piggiesworths with light. These lights do get warm. If anyone tries this idea, please get into the area yourself to determine if the lights heat up the space too much and make sure they are far enough away from your pigs.

The cord to plug in the lights is attached along the table, making sure it stays up and out of reach of the pigs.
