The Skinny's toenails were caked with dry feces that I was able to get off but her abdomen is a bit dirty. She does have scratches and I have trimmed her toenails and treated her for mites. She was housed with four females in a small cage (that was used to transport three of them to the shelter). The skinny (Rosie due to her pink color) and the Texel (Jasmine lookalike) are here because they were "friends" and their care is not user-friendly for kids who are the main adopters at the shelter.
| Three male guinea pigs and a stray cat with four very young kittens were also brought to the shelter. The shelter kept the cats and some guinea pigs, another rescue took some guinea pigs, and Guinea Pig Fun kept the Skinny and the Texel who needed medical attention.
| The cage that they are in at the moment (set up and ready to be placed on the table in the front room). I will move them to a larger cage after a week or so. I think the Texel is about 1-1/2 years old and the Skinny is less than a year.
| Close-up but blurry photo of the Texel ... no name yet.

STATUS UPDATE SKINNY AND TEXEL: Both are doing fine right now and will be examined by my vet on Saturday. The texel has hairloss over her shoulders and on her abdomen. Apparently she had a litter of five stillborns two months ago. I found out that the skinny is eight months old. Both are eating well and have been trying to outdo Bif and Albert on building the largest compost pile. [Skinny pigs eat more and can have a higher fecal output.] Rosie (skinny) is no longer called Rosie since one of Ashley's babies is named Rosie. Ooops.
| STATUS UPDATE: SKINNY AND TEXEL: They both still have no name but they did get a vet check today and both passed with flying colors. :) Each has gained weight since being here and I need to keep an eye on the Texel since the vet noted her as being 50 grams overweight. The vet mentioned a couple of times how nice the Skinny's skin looked and that it's okay to keep using the Humilac spray (not the coconut oil) once a week. The skinny's rear foot pads are a dark pink - anyone else have the same thing with their light-colored hairless pigs? Not sure if it is due to their former bedding or not. They each got another misting of the Humilac spray and another dose of Ivermectin before being placed in their larger cage (Marchioro Tommy 120).

| Overview of the Texel and Skinny's cage. Still working on names here.

I found something that I really like for holding guinea pigs in my lap. I usually use a cuddle cup but I saw the HugNSnug Sac and tried one. It has soft "cuddle" fleece inside and regular fleece on the outside with a wide round bottom. If desired one can roll back the top edges and make a soft cuddle bed. Perfect for those guinea pigs who might be a bit shy and for those who are not. Give it a try you and your guinea pigs will love them.

| UPDATE: SKINNY AND TEXEL - Both are doing well. The skinny loves Cobb Cabin Craft's box-shaped bottomed cozy sack. Why? She can hide away from the Texel's teeth. [She nibbles on her ears and face.] Don't forget, tomorrow is the last day to submit names for them.
