Yesterday I did all the shops on a Montreal street where there's a lot of vintage and found an interesting brooch. The seller said it was art deco, silver & amber. But it's marked MET. (making me think it means METAL). The metal in question could be some steel I don't know. As for the amber I know nothing about it apart from reading about it on the net so it's difficult to judge. It has an old bar pin without the security part.

This bracelet has very brilliant stones that are set in what I would not consider to be a typical Eisenberg style. I believe the safety chain is a replacement but the rest looks original. The cursive E on the clasp looks like others I've seen on Eisenberg pieces, but this bracelet just looks different. I would love to get your opinions. Oh, and the E has either wear or verdigris on it, so it is not as clear as it once was.

I have this sterling piece that I believe is meant to decorate a tie, but there is no clip on it, so how would it work, or is the clip missing? There is no sign that anything is broken off.

I just received the coro Collossus of Rhodes brooch in the mail. I purchased it because I saw a similar one with the symphony last year and thought it was just lovely. This one is wonderfully detailed and just as lovely, with a cleaning that is. I was wondering if anyone has any information about these. Are they a part of a series or something? I would like to know which others are there and if I can go somewhere to find information on them.

I've been all over sites and my heart is hoping that this might be a Georg Jensen mark. When it was stamped into the ring the marker "slipped" a little so it is very hard to read. It is intertwined either a C or G on a J and also 835. The ring is very free form like early Denmark.

I have a signed WEISS Pocket Watch brooch, and I have had this identical brooch before signed HOLLYCRAFT. I know Hollycraft produced jewelry for Weiss and so I am wondering if this would be a Hollycraft design that was made for Weiss, and was it common for them to share the same designs.

Whadaya think? Clearly could be Eisie, but the clasp is different. And I think Eisie would have used rhodium. Opinions? Others are possible, Weiss, Hobe for two, and I won't attribute if there are too many possibilities.

I have this really incredible space-age looking parure, with store tags still on -- but there is only a 1970's Trifari mark and tags -- yet this just strikes me as being a Kunio Matsumoto design. I have done a pretty extensive Google search for Kunio items and I've looked through numerous reference books. What I found were other sets that had some similar characteristics, but not this particular set. The peach lucite has a lustrous moonglow sheen and a bit of a "cream" marbling effect in places. (The color seems a bit darker in my browser than it is in reality -- a very light peach.) Size-wise, the lucite is quite thick. The silvertone metal is textured on the back, but has a very smooth finish on the front; I'm not sure what you would call that finish. The word matte comes to mind, but I know there's another word I'm thinking of that refers to the kind of smooth/polished finish that says "hi tech."

I have this pin with an H in a heart and I know that is attributed to Hedison according to Illusion Jewels, but this is different than the marks that are shown there. All of those signatures only show a copyright that means manufactured after 1955, right? So do you think that this is just an early mark that they used or do you think that this is a different company.  RCJ indicates that the company was in operation from 1909 to 1985.  This also has a simple C clasp. Also would it be considered Art Nouveau?

I love this butterfly wing pendant and it has the tiniest marks I've ever seen.  I thought it was English, but the mark appears to be French.  the mark is less than 1/32nd of an inch across. I've probably missed marks like this before, thinking that they were just small damages. Looking at the second photo, it is 1/4 inch from the mark to the edge of the piece.  It appears to be by Page Fres.  There is also another mark just as small and can't be determined with my strongest loupe. The 20 inch chain has the same mark and also sterling so it is original.

This necklace fascinates me because of the rare snap-button closure.  Once clasped, it still slides so the two side strands can move independently to conform to the diameter of the wearer's neckline. That description is a bit clunky so maybe the photo will illustrate what I mean.  There are no markings other than "Pat. Pend" so we know it's American. The casting is very good and the rhodium plating is heavy and pristine.

The first is very Deco in design and came with a curious pile of tiny black seeds/fragments in the back which fell out of the hole during transport. They were about 1/8" in diameter, irregular in shape, and when pulled across paper left something like light pencil marks. I wondered if they had been scented and the aroma wafted around the wearer? OR maybe they were there as part of the stamping/support of the pendant?

might the stones in this pin be 'cottage glass'?   the pin is about 2.25" by about .75", the stones are rose cut, flat backed and foiled.   additionally, the facets are not clean and sharp and the glass is not high quality.....difficult to describe, no obvious clouds, just not real 'clean' looking.
